When the new match engine arrives it will be a requirement to have at least 13 available players for a match - else you will lose 3-0. The current amount of available players required is 11.

Squads will be have a new maximum size imposed during season 8. At mid-season each club may hold 80 players in their squad of which up to 45 may be aged 22 or above. At the end of the season this number will be lowered to 60 of which up to 35 may be aged 22 or above. This means that the change will be implemented this way:

1) From start of season 8 to mid-season 8: No cap
2) From mid-season 8 to the end of season 8: Cap = 80 players of which up to 45 may be aged 22 or above.
3) From the end of season 8 (the season update): Cap = 60 players of which up to 35 may be aged 22 or above.

Teams with more players than the cap won't be able to buy players and won't be able to pull youth players from their academy.

The change is being imposed to secure the enforcing of the last TM Rule (no. 9) which states that managers should act according to "normal football logic" and "not do anything a real-life manager wouldn't do". Unfortunately some managers have disregarded this rule and built "crazy" squads of up to 300 players, which we see as a clear violation of the above rule. No real-life board would allow more than 35 first team players, and this is what we try to impose with the new cap, making room for youth pulls with an extra 25 "up-to-age-21" spots in the squad.

All teams with huge squad now have 7 weeks to get their squads to 80, with 45 players aged 22 or older, and then a further 6 weeks to get down to 60 players, with up to 35 players aged 22 or older (at the start of the season), which we find suitable.

This change will hopefully shift the focus of "stock-trading" managers from herding cattle to developing their Youth Development and training schedule, as well as deflating the market a little bit as more players are bound to be listed over the next 12 weeks.
